Understanding MAV Issues
Troubles Opening MAV Files
Microsoft Access Removed
You attempt to load your MAV file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The MAV File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Access isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your MAV with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another MAV-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Access is Installed
In other instances, your Access View File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Access. Download the latest Microsoft Access version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Most of the time your Access View File file was created by a newer Microsoft Access than what you have installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your MAV file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening MAV files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Access installed on your computer.
Other MAV File Opening Causes
Although you might already have Microsoft Access or another MAV-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Access View File files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening MAV files. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for MAV are wrong
- Corruption of the MAV file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the MAV format
- Your MAV can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your MAV
- Hardware related to MAVs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Access View File format
