Sources of MDBHTML Problems
Common Problems Opening MDBHTML Files
Microsoft Access Not Present
When you double-click your MDBHTML file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Access missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your MDBHTML with Microsoft Access, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Access installed, and you know of another program to open your MDBHTML file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Outdated Microsoft Access
Sometimes your installed version of Microsoft Access won't support your Microsoft Access Database HTML File file. Download the latest Microsoft Access version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Microsoft Access Database HTML File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Access than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of MDBHTML file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening MDBHTML files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other MDBHTML File Issues
You can still experience errors opening MDBHTML files even with the latest version of Microsoft Access installed on your PC. Other MDBHTML opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- MDBHTML file type Registry entries are wrong
- The MDBHTML file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Invalid installation of a MDBHTML-associated program (eg. Microsoft Access)
- MDBHTML file corruption
- Past or present virus infection has affected your MDBHTML
- Device drivers for MDBHTML-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Microsoft Access Database HTML File file successfully
