Common MKR Opening Problems
Microsoft Train Simulator Not Present
If you attempt to load your MKR file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open MKR Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Train Simulator isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the MKR file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MKR, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Microsoft Train Simulator is Out-of-Date
In other instances, your Train Simulator Marker File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Train Simulator. Download the latest Microsoft Train Simulator version from the Kuju Entertainment website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your Train Simulator Marker File file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Train Simulator than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your MKR file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

More Causes of Problems Opening MKRs
Although you might already have Microsoft Train Simulator or another MKR-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Train Simulator Marker File files. - File references in the Windows Registry for MKR are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry MKR description

- Your MKR has adversely impacted by malware
- MKR-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
