Troubleshoot MN7 Files
Frequent MN7 Opening Issues
Microsoft Money Isn't There
Double-clicking your MN7 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open MN7 File". Customarily, this means that Microsoft Money is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another MN7-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Money is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Microsoft Money (Ver 7) Data File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Money (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your Microsoft Money (Ver 7) Data File file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Money than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your MN7 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening MN7 files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Money installed.
