Troubleshoot MN8 Files
Frequent MN8 Opening Issues
Microsoft Money is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open MN8 Files" when trying to open your MN8. When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Money missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When another MN8 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated Microsoft Money
Your Microsoft Money 2000 Data File file is incompatible with Microsoft Money because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Microsoft Money version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Microsoft Money 2000 Data File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Money than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the MN8 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening MN8 files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Money installed.
