Troubleshoot MSPX Files
Frequent MSPX Opening Issues
Safari is Not Installed
When you double-click your MSPX file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Safari is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your MSPX with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another MSPX application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Safari Version
Your Microsoft ASP.NET Web Page file is incompatible with Safari because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version Safari (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Your Microsoft ASP.NET Web Page file was probably created by a newer release of Safari than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your MSPX, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Conclusion: The majority of MSPX file opening issues are due to not having the correct Safari version installed.
Other MSPX File Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Safari will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening MSPX files. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry MSPX file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the MSPX file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a MSPX program, such as Safari
- MSPX file corruption
- Malware-tainted MSPX file can't be opened
- Device drivers for MSPX-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Microsoft ASP.NET Web Page file
