MS_ File Complications
Troubles Opening MS_ Files
Missing Microsoft Windows
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open MS_ Files" when trying to open your MS_. When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Windows missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your MS_ because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Windows installed, and you know of another program to open your MS_ file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Windows
In other instances, your Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Windows. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Windows installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file was probably created by a newer release of Microsoft Windows than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your MS_ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening MS_ files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other MS_ File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Windows installed, you can still experience difficulties opening MS_s. Other MS_ opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for MS_
- Accidental deletion of the description of the MS_ file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of Microsoft Windows that did not fully complete
- Your MS_ file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft Windows WinHelp Compressed Data file itself)
