Understanding NMW Issues
Typical NMW Opening Challenges
Microsoft NetMeeting Disappeared
When you double-click your NMW file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft NetMeeting for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the NMW file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your NMW, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Microsoft NetMeeting is Installed
It is possible that your version of Microsoft NetMeeting isn't able to open your Microsoft NetMeeting T126_Whiteboard File Format file due to incompatibility. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Microsoft NetMeeting. This issue mainly occurs when your Microsoft NetMeeting T126_Whiteboard File Format file was created by a newer version of Microsoft NetMeeting than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your NMW file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening NMW files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft NetMeeting installed.
Additional NMW Opening Issues
You can still experience errors opening NMW files even with the latest version of Microsoft NetMeeting installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening NMW files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry NMW file paths that are incorrect
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry NMW description
- Partial installation of Microsoft NetMeeting that did not fully complete
- Your NMW can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your NMW has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your NMW file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Microsoft NetMeeting T126_Whiteboard File Format file
