Understanding OC_ Issues
Frequent OC_ Opening Issues
Microsoft Windows Disappeared
When you double-click your OC_ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Windows installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the OC_ file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another OC_-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Microsoft Windows Version
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows isn't able to open your Compressed ActiveX Control File file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Windows (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of OC_ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Windows version on your computer can cause problems opening OC_ files.
Other OC_ File Opening Causes
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Windows installed, you can still experience difficulties opening OC_s. If you're still experiencing problems opening OC_ files, there could be other computer problems. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Invalid OC_ file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the OC_ file inside the Windows Registry
- Invalid installation of a OC_-associated program (eg. Microsoft Windows)
- Your OC_ can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The OC_ is infected with a virus
- Hardware related to OC_s has device driver corruption
- Windows cannot load your Compressed ActiveX Control File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
