OHP Troubleshooting

Issues Opening OHP Files

MS-DOS is Not Installed

If you attempt to load your OHP file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open OHP Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because MS-DOS isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your OHP because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: Another OHP-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Outdated MS-DOS

Sometimes your installed version of MS-DOS won't support your MS-DOS 7 File file. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of MS-DOS. This issue mainly occurs when your MS-DOS 7 File file was created by a newer version of MS-DOS than you have on your PC.

Tip: If you right-click on your OHP file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Regardless, most of the OHP file opening problems relate to not having the right version of MS-DOS installed.

Other OHP File Issues

In the majority of cases, installing the right version of MS-DOS will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening OHP files, there could be other computer problems. Issues that aren't software-related:

  • Windows Registry OHP file paths that are incorrect
  • Deletion of the OHP file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the OHP format
  • Something has caused file corruption of your OHP
  • The OHP is infected with a virus
  • Drivers associated with OHP software need to be updated
  • Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the MS-DOS 7 File file
