Troubleshooting Problems Opening P7X Files
Common Problems Opening P7X Files
Microsoft Visual Studio Removed
If you attempt to load your P7X file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open P7X Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Microsoft Visual Studio installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your P7X with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another P7X-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Visual Studio
In other instances, your Packed Digital Signature File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Visual Studio. Download the latest Microsoft Visual Studio version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Packed Digital Signature File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Visual Studio than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your P7X file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening P7X files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed on your computer.
Other Causes of P7X File Opening Problems
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed, you can still experience difficulties opening P7Xs. If you are continuing to have errors with loading P7X files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
