Sources of PANO Problems

Frequent PANO Opening Issues

Microsoft OneDrive Not Present

When you double-click your PANO file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft OneDrive for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your PANO because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PANO files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Obsolete Version of Microsoft OneDrive

In other instances, your Camera Panoramic Picture file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft OneDrive. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft OneDrive (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Camera Panoramic Picture file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft OneDrive than what's installed.

Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your PANO file and clicking "Properties".

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PANO files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft OneDrive installed.

More Causes of Problems Opening PANOs

You can still experience errors opening PANO files even with the latest version of Microsoft OneDrive installed on your PC. Other PANO opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:

  • Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for PANO
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the PANO file in the Windows registry
  • Partial installation of Microsoft OneDrive that did not fully complete
  • The PANO itself is corrupted
  • The PANO is infected with a virus
  • Hardware related to PANOs has device driver corruption
  • Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Camera Panoramic Picture file
