Troubleshoot PCS Files
Common PCS Opening Problems
PesView Removed
If you attempt to load your PCS file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open PCS Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to PesView missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your PCS file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another PCS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
PesView is Out-of-Date
Your Pfaff Embroidery File file is incompatible with PesView because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of PesView installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your Pfaff Embroidery File file was probably created by a newer release of PesView than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your PCS file and clicking "Properties".
Conclusion: The majority of PCS file opening issues are due to not having the correct PesView version installed.
Additional PCS Opening Issues
Errors opening Pfaff Embroidery File files can still occur even with the latest PesView software installed on your computer. Other PCS opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry PCS file paths that are incorrect
- The PCS file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- PesView or another PCS application experienced a flawed installation
- Your PCS file is corrupted (issues with your Pfaff Embroidery File file itself)
- Malware-tainted PCS file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with PCS software need to be updated
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Pfaff Embroidery File file successfully
