Sources of PGX Problems
Frequent PGX Opening Issues
Hopedot VOS Isn't There
You attempt to load your PGX file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The PGX File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Hopedot VOS isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the PGX file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another PGX-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Hopedot VOS Version
In other instances, your Hopedot VOS Data File file version may not be supported by your version of Hopedot VOS. If you've got the wrong version of Hopedot VOS installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Most of the time your Hopedot VOS Data File file was created by a newer Hopedot VOS than what you have installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your PGX, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening PGX files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading PGX Files
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Hopedot VOS will resolve your issue. Other PGX opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- PGX file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the PGX file in the Windows registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the PGX format
- Your PGX can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your PGX has adversely impacted by malware
- Hardware associated with PGX has outdated drivers
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Hopedot VOS Data File format
