Troubles Opening PMW Files
Pegasus Mail is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open PMW Files" when trying to open your PMW. Usually, this is because you do not have Pegasus Mail for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your PMW file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your PMW file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Pegasus Mail Version
Your Pegasus Mail Outgoing Draft Message file is incompatible with Pegasus Mail because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the David Harris website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Pegasus Mail. This problem is predominately due to having a Pegasus Mail Outgoing Draft Message file version that was created by a newer version of Pegasus Mail than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of PMW file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the PMW file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Pegasus Mail installed.
Other PMW File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Pegasus Mail will resolve your issue. If you are still having problems opening PMW files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- File references in the Windows Registry for PMW are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry PMW description
- Pegasus Mail or another PMW application experienced a flawed installation
- File corruption affecting your PMW file
- Malware-tainted PMW file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your PMW file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Pegasus Mail Outgoing Draft Message file successfully
