Troubleshoot PTT Files
Issues Opening PTT Files
Avid Pro Tools Not Present
When trying to open your PTT file, you get the error "Can't Open PTT File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Avid Pro Tools for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your PTT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PTT files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of Avid Pro Tools is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Pro Tools Session Template file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Avid Pro Tools (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Pro Tools Session Template file version that was created by a newer version of Avid Pro Tools than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the PTT file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PTT files are due to having the wrong version of Avid Pro Tools installed.
