RLL File Complications
Common Problems Opening RLL Files
Microsoft Visual Studio Disappeared
When you double-click your RLL file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Microsoft Visual Studio is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your RLL because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another RLL application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Incorrect Microsoft Visual Studio Version
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Visual Studio isn't able to open your Microsoft Resource Library file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Visual Studio (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Microsoft Resource Library file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Visual Studio than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your RLL file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening RLL files are due to having the wrong version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening RLLs
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Microsoft Visual Studio will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening RLL files, there could be other computer problems. Problems unrelated to software:
