Understanding RWD Issues
Issues Opening RWD Files
Missing Symphonie Data Retriever
Double-clicking your RWD file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open RWD File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Symphonie Data Retriever for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your RWD file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Symphonie Data Retriever is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a NRG Raw Wind Data File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Symphonie Data Retriever if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your NRG Raw Wind Data File file was created by a different (newer) version of Symphonie Data Retriever than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your RWD file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right Symphonie Data Retriever version on your computer can cause problems opening RWD files.
Other RWD File Opening Causes
Errors opening NRG Raw Wind Data File files can still occur even with the latest Symphonie Data Retriever software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening RWD files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These issues include:
- Windows Registry RWD file paths that are incorrect
- Unintentional removal of the description of the RWD file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the RWD format
- File corruption affecting your RWD file
- Malware-tainted RWD file can't be opened
- Hardware related to RWDs has device driver corruption
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open NRG Raw Wind Data File files
