RWZ File Complications
Issues Opening RWZ Files
Microsoft Outlook 2016 Not Present
When you double-click your RWZ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Outlook 2016 missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your RWZ with Microsoft Outlook 2016, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your RWZ file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Outlook 2016
In other instances, your Outlook Rules Wizard File file version may not be supported by your version of Microsoft Outlook 2016. Download the latest Microsoft Outlook 2016 version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your Outlook Rules Wizard File file was created by a newer version of Microsoft Outlook 2016 than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your RWZ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Outlook 2016 version on your computer can cause problems opening RWZ files.
More Causes of Problems Opening RWZs
Although you might already have Microsoft Outlook 2016 or another RWZ-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Outlook Rules Wizard File files.
