Common SFCACHE Opening Problems
Microsoft Windows Removed
When you double-click your SFCACHE file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Microsoft Windows missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your SFCACHE because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your SFCACHE file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Windows is Installed
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Windows isn't able to open your ReadyBoost Cache File file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Windows if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a ReadyBoost Cache File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Windows than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your SFCACHE file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the SFCACHE file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Windows installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading SFCACHE Files
Although you might already have Microsoft Windows or another SFCACHE-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening ReadyBoost Cache File files.
