SSH File Complications
Common SSH Opening Problems
Missing Internet Explorer
Double-clicking your SSH file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open SSH File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Internet Explorer installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your SSH because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another SSH-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Internet Explorer is Installed
In other instances, your Microsoft Internet Explorer Style Sheet file version may not be supported by your version of Internet Explorer. Download the latest Internet Explorer version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of SSH file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening SSH files are due to having the wrong version of Internet Explorer installed.
Other SSH File Opening Causes
Although you might already have Internet Explorer or another SSH-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Microsoft Internet Explorer Style Sheet files. If you are still having problems opening SSH files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Problems unrelated to software:
- File references in the Windows Registry for SSH are wrong
- The SSH file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the SSH format
- Something has caused file corruption of your SSH
- SSH file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with SSH has outdated drivers
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft Internet Explorer Style Sheet files
