Troubleshoot TBB Files
Troubles Opening TBB Files
Microsoft Office is Not Installed
If you attempt to load your TBB file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open TBB Files". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Office for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your TBB because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another TBB-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Microsoft Office Version
It is possible that your version of Microsoft Office isn't able to open your Microsoft Office Toolbar Button file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Office if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Microsoft Office Toolbar Button file was created by a newer Microsoft Office than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your TBB file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TBB files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading TBB Files
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Office installed, you can still experience difficulties opening TBBs. If you're still experiencing problems opening TBB files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for TBB are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry TBB description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the TBB format
- Something has caused file corruption of your TBB
- Malware-tainted TBB file can't be opened
- Hardware associated with TBB has outdated drivers
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Microsoft Office Toolbar Button file
