Troubleshoot TT2 Files
Issues Opening TT2 Files
Microsoft Office is Not Installed
When trying to open your TT2 file, you get the error "Can't Open TT2 File Type". Customarily, this means that Microsoft Office is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your TT2 with Microsoft Office, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Microsoft Office installed, and you know of another program to open your TT2 file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Outdated Microsoft Office
Your Microsoft Office 2013 Installation file is incompatible with Microsoft Office because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Office if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your TT2 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the TT2 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Office installed.
Other Causes of TT2 File Opening Problems
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Office installed, you can still experience difficulties opening TT2s. If you are continuing to have errors with loading TT2 files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Invalid TT2 file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Accidental deletion of the description of the TT2 file in the Windows registry
- Invalid installation of a TT2-associated program (eg. Microsoft Office)
- Your TT2 can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your TT2 is infected with malware
- Drivers associated with TT2 software need to be updated
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Microsoft Office 2013 Installation files
