UGA Troubleshooting
Frequent UGA Opening Issues
GIF Animator Disappeared
You attempt to load your UGA file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The UGA File Extension". When this happens, it is commonly due to GIF Animator missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your UGA because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another UGA application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of GIF Animator is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of GIF Animator installed that's incompatible with your Ulead GIF Animator File type. Visit the Microsoft Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of GIF Animator. Your Ulead GIF Animator File file was probably created by a newer release of GIF Animator than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your UGA file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening UGA files are due to having the incorrect version of GIF Animator installed on your computer.
Other UGA File Opening Causes
Although you might already have GIF Animator or another UGA-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Ulead GIF Animator File files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening UGA files. Additional factors include:
- Invalid UGA file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the UGA file inside the Windows Registry
- GIF Animator or another UGA application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your UGA
- Past or present virus infection has affected your UGA
- Hardware related to UGAs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Ulead GIF Animator File format
