Typical ULZ Opening Challenges
Windows Updates Downloader Isn't There
You attempt to load your ULZ file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The ULZ File Extension". Customarily, this means that Windows Updates Downloader is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens ULZ files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of Windows Updates Downloader is Installed
In other instances, your Windows Updates Downloader Update List File file version may not be supported by your version of Windows Updates Downloader. If you do not have the proper version Windows Updates Downloader (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your Windows Updates Downloader Update List File file was created by a newer Windows Updates Downloader than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ULZ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

Other ULZ File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right Windows Updates Downloader version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening ULZ files. If you are still having problems opening ULZ files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for ULZ
- The ULZ file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Corrupt install of Windows Updates Downloader or other ULZ-related program
- The ULZ itself is corrupted
- The ULZ is infected with a virus
- Device drivers for ULZ-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Windows Updates Downloader Update List File file
