Sources of VBHTML Problems
Typical VBHTML Opening Challenges
Microsoft Visual Studio Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open VBHTML Files" when trying to open your VBHTML. Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Visual Studio for %%os%% installed. Your operating system cannot associate your VBHTML with Microsoft Visual Studio, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another VBHTML-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated Microsoft Visual Studio
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Microsoft Visual Studio ASP.NET Web Page file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Visual Studio (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your VBHTML file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the VBHTML file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading VBHTML Files
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Microsoft Visual Studio will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening VBHTML files, there could be other computer problems. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- File references in the Windows Registry for VBHTML are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the VBHTML file in the Windows registry
- Microsoft Visual Studio or another VBHTML application experienced a flawed installation
