VSP Troubleshooting
Issues Opening VSP Files
Corel VideoStudio Pro is Not Installed
When you double-click your VSP file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Corel VideoStudio Pro missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the VSP file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens VSP files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Corel VideoStudio Pro Version
In other instances, your VideoStudio Project File file version may not be supported by your version of Corel VideoStudio Pro. You will need to download a newer version of Corel VideoStudio Pro if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your VideoStudio Project File file was created by a newer version of Corel VideoStudio Pro than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your VSP file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening VSP files are due to having the incorrect version of Corel VideoStudio Pro installed on your computer.
Other VSP File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening VSP files even with the latest version of Corel VideoStudio Pro installed on your PC. Other VSP opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for VSP are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the VSP file inside the Windows Registry
- Corrupt install of Corel VideoStudio Pro or other VSP-related program
- The VSP itself is corrupted
- Your VSP is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your VSP file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the VideoStudio Project File format
