Troubleshooting Problems Opening WEBPART Files
Common Problems Opening WEBPART Files
Microsoft SharePoint Removed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open WEBPART Files" when trying to open your WEBPART. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft SharePoint isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your WEBPART file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Microsoft SharePoint Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Microsoft SharePoint Web Part File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Microsoft SharePoint version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Microsoft SharePoint Web Part File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft SharePoint than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the WEBPART file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening WEBPART files are due to having the incorrect version of Microsoft SharePoint installed on your computer.
Other WEBPART File Opening Causes
Errors opening Microsoft SharePoint Web Part File files can still occur even with the latest Microsoft SharePoint software installed on your computer. - Your WEBPART can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
