Sources of WFS Problems

Common WFS Opening Problems

Microsoft Windows Isn't There

You attempt to load your WFS file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The WFS File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Windows isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your WFS with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens WFS files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Microsoft Windows Requires Update

Your Microsoft Windows Installation Script file is incompatible with Microsoft Windows because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of Microsoft Windows from Microsoft Corporation is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Investigate your WFS file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Summary: Not having the right Microsoft Windows version on your computer can cause problems opening WFS files.

Associated Difficulties Loading WFS Files

You can still experience errors opening WFS files even with the latest version of Microsoft Windows installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening WFS files. Other contributing causes:

  • File references in the Windows Registry for WFS are wrong
  • Deletion of the WFS file description from the Registry by mistake
  • Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the WFS format
  • Your WFS file is corrupted (issues with your Microsoft Windows Installation Script file itself)
  • Malware-tainted WFS file can't be opened
  • Hardware related to WFSs has device driver corruption
  • Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Microsoft Windows Installation Script file
