Troubles Opening WTV Files
CyberLink PowerDVD Isn't There
When you double-click your WTV file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have CyberLink PowerDVD installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your WTV because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your WTV file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
CyberLink PowerDVD is Out-of-Date
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed that's incompatible with your Windows Recorded TV Show File type. You will need to download a newer version of CyberLink PowerDVD if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Windows Recorded TV Show File file was created by a newer version of CyberLink PowerDVD than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of WTV file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the WTV file opening problems relate to not having the right version of CyberLink PowerDVD installed.
