Understanding XEJ Issues
Issues Opening XEJ Files
Microsoft Expression Studio Isn't There
When trying to open your XEJ file, you get the error "Can't Open XEJ File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Microsoft Expression Studio isn't installed on your PC. The OS won't know what to do with your XEJ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your XEJ, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Microsoft Expression Studio
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Microsoft Expression Studio installed that's incompatible with your Expression Encoder Job File type. If you've got the wrong version of Microsoft Expression Studio installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Expression Encoder Job File file was created by a different (newer) version of Microsoft Expression Studio than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of XEJ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Conclusion: The majority of XEJ file opening issues are due to not having the correct Microsoft Expression Studio version installed.
Additional XEJ Opening Issues
Although you might already have Microsoft Expression Studio or another XEJ-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Expression Encoder Job File files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading XEJ files, other external issues might be to blame. Issues that aren't software-related:
- XEJ file type Registry entries are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry XEJ description
- Partial installation of Microsoft Expression Studio that did not fully complete
- Your XEJ file is corrupted (issues with your Expression Encoder Job File file itself)
- XEJ file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for XEJ-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Expression Encoder Job File format
