Understanding XHR Issues
Frequent XHR Opening Issues
Google Chrome Disappeared
When trying to open your XHR file, you get the error "Can't Open XHR File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have Google Chrome for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your XHR because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another XHR application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Google Chrome
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Google Chrome installed that's incompatible with your XMLHttpRequest type. If you do not have the proper version Google Chrome (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your XMLHttpRequest file was created by a different (newer) version of Google Chrome than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your XHR, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening XHR files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other XHR File Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Google Chrome will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening XHRs. These issues include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for XHR
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry XHR description
- Defective install of a XHR program, such as Google Chrome
- Something has caused file corruption of your XHR
- XHR file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for XHR-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the XMLHttpRequest format
