Sources of XMS Problems
Troubles Opening XMS Files
Alexander Gross Music Studio Isn't There
You attempt to load your XMS file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The XMS File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Alexander Gross Music Studio for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your XMS file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Alexander Gross Music Studio Version
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Music Studio Project file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Alexander Gross Music Studio if you don't have the right version. Your Music Studio Project file was probably created by a newer release of Alexander Gross Music Studio than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of XMS file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the XMS file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Alexander Gross Music Studio installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading XMS Files
Errors opening Music Studio Project files can still occur even with the latest Alexander Gross Music Studio software installed on your computer. Other XMS opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- XMS file type Registry entries are wrong
- Corruption of the XMS file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of Alexander Gross Music Studio that did not fully complete
- Your XMS can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- XMS file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware associated with XMS has outdated drivers
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Music Studio Project file
