Sources of KLQ Problems
Troubles Opening KLQ Files
Missing Kaspersky Anti-Virus
When you double-click your KLQ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Kaspersky Anti-Virus for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your KLQ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another KLQ application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Requires Update
Your Kaspersky Quarantine File file is incompatible with Kaspersky Anti-Virus because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version Kaspersky Anti-Virus (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Kaspersky Quarantine File file was created by a different (newer) version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the KLQ file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening KLQ files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other KLQ File Issues
Although you might already have Kaspersky Anti-Virus or another KLQ-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Kaspersky Quarantine File files. If you're still experiencing problems opening KLQ files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
- KLQ file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the KLQ file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus that did not fully complete
- Your KLQ can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The KLQ is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your KLQ file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Kaspersky Quarantine File files
