Software Overview
High Order Calculator (HOC) is an interpreted programming language for floating-point arithmetic, at about the level of Basic, with C-like syntax and functions. It was developed by Brian Kernighan and Rob Pike and used in The Unix Programming Environment book published in 1984. Its basic function was to evaluate floating-point numerical expressions such as "1+2*sin(0.7)". Then conditionals, user-defined functions, loops, simple IO, and other variables were added.
