Troubleshooting Problems Opening 3P2 Files
Common 3P2 Opening Problems
MPlayer Isn't There
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open 3P2 Files" when trying to open your 3P2. When this happens, it is commonly due to MPlayer missing in %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your 3P2 because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens 3P2 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Outdated MPlayer
In other instances, your 3GPP Multimedia File file version may not be supported by your version of MPlayer. If you've got the wrong version of MPlayer installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This issue mainly occurs when your 3GPP Multimedia File file was created by a newer version of MPlayer than you have on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your 3P2 file and clicking "Properties".
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening 3P2 files are due to having the wrong version of MPlayer installed.
Other 3P2 File Issues
Errors opening 3GPP Multimedia File files can still occur even with the latest MPlayer software installed on your computer. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening 3P2s. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for 3P2
- Unintentional removal of the description of the 3P2 file inside the Windows Registry
- Invalid installation of a 3P2-associated program (eg. MPlayer)
- Your 3P2 can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your 3P2
- Device drivers for 3P2-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your 3GPP Multimedia File file successfully
