Troubleshooting Problems Opening ASZ Files

Common ASZ Opening Problems

AlphaControls Removed

When you double-click your ASZ file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to AlphaControls missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your ASZ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When another ASZ application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Obsolete Version of AlphaControls

It is possible that your version of AlphaControls isn't able to open your AlphaControls Skin Package file due to incompatibility. Visit the Open Source website to download (or purchase) the latest version of AlphaControls. Your AlphaControls Skin Package file was probably created by a newer release of AlphaControls than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Investigate your ASZ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Regardless, most of the ASZ file opening problems relate to not having the right version of AlphaControls installed.
