Sources of BJO Problems
Common Problems Opening BJO Files
Missing TABrite
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open BJO Files" when trying to open your BJO. If so, it typically means that you don't have TABrite installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your BJO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another BJO application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of TABrite
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of TABrite installed that's incompatible with your TabRite Tablature File type. If you do not have the proper version TABrite (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Your TabRite Tablature File file was probably created by a newer release of TABrite than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of BJO file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the BJO file opening problems relate to not having the right version of TABrite installed.
Other BJO File Issues
Assuming you have the right TABrite version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening BJO files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening BJO files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- BJO file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the BJO file description from the Registry by mistake
- Corrupt install of TABrite or other BJO-related program
- BJO file corruption
- BJO file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for BJO-related hardware are out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the TabRite Tablature File file
