Common BNX Opening Problems

Notepad++ Removed

You attempt to load your BNX file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The BNX File Extension". When this happens, it is commonly due to Notepad++ missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your BNX with Notepad++, so double-clicking the file won't work.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your BNX, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Obsolete Version of Notepad++

It is possible that your version of Notepad++ isn't able to open your Board Neutral Exchange File file due to incompatibility. Visit the Don Ho website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Notepad++. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Right-clicking on your BNX, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.

Regardless, most of the BNX file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Notepad++ installed.
