BRA Troubleshooting
Issues Opening BRA Files
FreeBSD is Not Installed
You attempt to load your BRA file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The BRA File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have FreeBSD for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your BRA with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have FreeBSD installed, and you know of another program to open your BRA file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of FreeBSD
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Linux Data File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version FreeBSD (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Right-clicking on your BRA, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening BRA files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other BRA File Issues
You can still experience errors opening BRA files even with the latest version of FreeBSD installed on your PC. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening BRAs. Problems unrelated to software:
- BRA file type Registry entries are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the BRA file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of FreeBSD that did not fully complete
- Your BRA can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The BRA is infected with a virus
- Drivers associated with BRA software need to be updated
- Windows cannot load your Linux Data File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
