Sources of BWR Problems
Typical BWR Opening Challenges
C-Kermit 9.0 Isn't There
If you attempt to load your BWR file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open BWR Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have C-Kermit 9.0 for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your BWR file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your BWR, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
C-Kermit 9.0 Requires Update
Sometimes your installed version of C-Kermit 9.0 won't support your Kermit Beware Bug List file. If you've got the wrong version of C-Kermit 9.0 installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Kermit Beware Bug List file version that was created by a newer version of C-Kermit 9.0 than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the BWR file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: Not having the right C-Kermit 9.0 version on your computer can cause problems opening BWR files.
Other BWR File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of C-Kermit 9.0 will resolve your issue. If you are still having problems opening BWR files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for BWR
- Corruption of the BWR file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of C-Kermit 9.0 that did not fully complete
- File corruption affecting your BWR file
- The BWR is infected with a virus
- Device drivers for BWR-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Kermit Beware Bug List file
