CBC File Complications
Troubles Opening CBC Files
Calibre Not Present
You attempt to load your CBC file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The CBC File Extension". When this happens, it is commonly due to Calibre missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your CBC with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your CBC file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Calibre
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Calibre installed that's incompatible with your Sony Portable Reader Comic E-book File type. You will need to download a newer version of Calibre if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Sony Portable Reader Comic E-book File file was created by a newer Calibre than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the CBC file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening CBC files are due to having the incorrect version of Calibre installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening CBCs
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Calibre will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening CBC files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry CBC file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the CBC file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a CBC program, such as Calibre
- Your CBC can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- CBC file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to CBCs has device driver corruption
- Windows cannot load your Sony Portable Reader Comic E-book File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
