Troubleshooting Problems Opening CBW Files
Issues Opening CBW Files
ComicRack Not Present
If you attempt to load your CBW file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open CBW Files". Usually, this is because you do not have ComicRack for %%os%% installed. Your operating system cannot associate your CBW with ComicRack, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another CBW application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of ComicRack
Your ComicRack Webcomics Data file is incompatible with ComicRack because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of ComicRack installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a ComicRack Webcomics Data file version that was created by a newer version of ComicRack than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your CBW file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening CBW files are due to having the wrong version of ComicRack installed.
Other CBW File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right ComicRack version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening CBW files. If you're still experiencing problems opening CBW files, there could be other computer problems. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry CBW file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the CBW file in the Windows registry
- Defective install of a CBW program, such as ComicRack
- Your CBW can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your CBW
- Drivers associated with CBW software need to be updated
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the ComicRack Webcomics Data file
