Understanding CYS Issues
Common Problems Opening CYS Files
Missing Clustify
When you double-click your CYS file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Clustify installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your CYS with Clustify, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When another CYS application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Clustify
It is possible that your version of Clustify isn't able to open your Clustify Summary Statistics File file due to incompatibility. Download the latest Clustify version from the Hot Neuron website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Clustify Summary Statistics File file was created by a different (newer) version of Clustify than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your CYS file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening CYS files are due to having the incorrect version of Clustify installed on your computer.
Other Causes of CYS File Opening Problems
You can still experience errors opening CYS files even with the latest version of Clustify installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening CYS files, there could be other computer problems. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- File references in the Windows Registry for CYS are wrong
- Corruption of the CYS file description inside the Registry
- Partial installation of Clustify that did not fully complete
- Something has caused file corruption of your CYS
- The CYS is infected with a virus
- CYS-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Clustify Summary Statistics File format
