Issues Opening DPF Files

Missing Dargon

When you double-click your DPF file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Dargon missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DPF file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: Another DPF-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.

Dargon is Out-of-Date

Sometimes your installed version of Dargon won't support your Dargon Package file. If you do not have the proper version Dargon (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your Dargon Package file was created by a newer Dargon than what you have installed.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the DPF file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.

Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening DPF files are due to having the wrong version of Dargon installed.
