EMX Troubleshooting
Typical EMX Opening Challenges
eMusic/J Removed
If you attempt to load your EMX file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open EMX Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have eMusic/J for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your EMX file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you don't have eMusic/J installed, and you know of another program to open your EMX file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
eMusic/J Requires Update
Your eMusic Download File file is incompatible with eMusic/J because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of eMusic/J installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a eMusic Download File file version that was created by a newer version of eMusic/J than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of EMX file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: Not having the right eMusic/J version on your computer can cause problems opening EMX files.
More Causes of Problems Opening EMXs
Although you might already have eMusic/J or another EMX-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening eMusic Download File files. Other EMX opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
