Troubleshoot EVZ Files

Issues Opening EVZ Files

EVOPlayer Isn't There

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open EVZ Files" when trying to open your EVZ. Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because EVOPlayer isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your EVZ with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens EVZ files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Outdated EVOPlayer

Sometimes your installed version of EVOPlayer won't support your Zipped EVO Record File file. If you do not have the proper version EVOPlayer (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Zipped EVO Record File file was created by a different (newer) version of EVOPlayer than what's installed.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of EVZ file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

Regardless, most of the EVZ file opening problems relate to not having the right version of EVOPlayer installed.

Other EVZ File Issues

Assuming you have the right EVOPlayer version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening EVZ files. If you are still having problems opening EVZ files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:

  • Windows Registry EVZ file paths that are incorrect
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the EVZ file in the Windows registry
  • EVOPlayer or another EVZ application experienced a flawed installation
  • EVZ file corruption
  • Past or present virus infection has affected your EVZ
  • Hardware associated with EVZ has outdated drivers
  • Windows cannot load your Zipped EVO Record File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
