Understanding FTA Issues
Troubles Opening FTA Files
OpenFTA Not Present
When trying to open your FTA file, you get the error "Can't Open FTA File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to OpenFTA missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your FTA with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your FTA, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect OpenFTA Version
It is possible that your version of OpenFTA isn't able to open your OpenFTA File file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of OpenFTA if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your OpenFTA File file was created by a different (newer) version of OpenFTA than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your FTA file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening FTA files are due to having the incorrect version of OpenFTA installed on your computer.
Additional FTA Opening Issues
Errors opening OpenFTA File files can still occur even with the latest OpenFTA software installed on your computer. Other FTA opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry FTA file paths that are incorrect
- Corruption of the FTA file description inside the Registry
- Invalid installation of a FTA-associated program (eg. OpenFTA)
- File corruption affecting your FTA file
- Your FTA is infected with malware
- Hardware related to FTAs has device driver corruption
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the OpenFTA File file
