SignalMap Not Present
If you attempt to load your GFF file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open GFF Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because SignalMap isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the GFF file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you don't have SignalMap installed, and you know of another program to open your GFF file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Incorrect SignalMap Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of SignalMap installed that's incompatible with your SignalMap Gene-Finding Format Data File type. You will need to download a newer version of SignalMap if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your SignalMap Gene-Finding Format Data File file was created by a newer version of SignalMap than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the GFF file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Regardless, most of the GFF file opening problems relate to not having the right version of SignalMap installed.
Other GFF File Issues
Although you might already have SignalMap or another GFF-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening SignalMap Gene-Finding Format Data File files. If you are still having problems opening GFF files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
