Troubleshooting Problems Opening HTS Files
Troubles Opening HTS Files
HyperTuner Removed
If you attempt to load your HTS file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open HTS Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to HyperTuner missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another HTS-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated HyperTuner
It is possible that your version of HyperTuner isn't able to open your HyperTuner Skin file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of HyperTuner installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the HTS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening HTS files are due to having the incorrect version of HyperTuner installed on your computer.
Other HTS File Issues
You can still experience errors opening HTS files even with the latest version of HyperTuner installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading HTS files, other external issues might be to blame. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Invalid HTS file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Unintentional removal of the description of the HTS file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of HyperTuner that did not fully complete
- Your HTS can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The HTS is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your HTS file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your HyperTuner Skin file successfully
